October is near! Can you believe it?

Hi friend!

We’re almost through September, and the cooler weather has been so beautiful - hope you’ve been enjoying it! As routines settle after the summer break, it’s a perfect time to explore new hobbies, learn new things, and meet new people. We just had our Back to School orientation this week, the first of hopefully many cohort experiences that I think really reflects our mission of building deeper connections through consistent creativity and intentional gatherings.Thank you to our wonderful community for helping us bring this to life! We can’t wait for all the growth that will happen this fall.

Featured events this month

And, our regulars are also on the calendar for October:

• Collage Potluck - Wed, Oct 2: A potluck of collage supplies! Come collage and show-and-tell with Drawing Room’s collage community.

• Color in Flow - Sat, Oct 8: Learn the fundamental techniques of watercolor through collaborative exercises. Then make a framed piece!

• Charm Meet - Tues, Oct 1 & Wed, Oct 23: Pick out your favorite charms from our huge collection and make one-of-a-kind charm necklaces or bracelets with friends! We’ll show you how to assemble.

• BYODinner Party - Wed, Oct 9 & Wed, Oct 30 (Halloween themed!): A candle-lit community dinner, where everyone brings their own food. Feel welcome to bring food to share, too!

• Field Trip - Sat, Oct 12 and Sat, Oct 26: Learn to draw from observation at the farmer’s market, park, and on your travels. Perfect for those interested in beginning a visual travel diary and making friends as we create on the go!

• Pen to Paper - Sun, Oct 13: Learn the basics of crafting a story and adding dimension to your writing. We’ll play with the seasonality of life and use words to examine the many transitions we often must navigate. This will be a safe space for reflection and creative expression without judgment. 

• Carve & Print - Sun, Oct 20: We’ll learn how to design and carve our own stamps, ink them with brayers and fabric ink, then apply them as prints to canvas totes, tea towels, and postcards.

Call for volunteers!

Many of our events need the support of volunteers to function. Volunteers help check folks into events, capture content, and clean up at the end - in exchange for the opportunity to participate and enjoy the event too! Interested in becoming a volunteer at Drawing Room? Please follow the instructions in this questionnaire to be included in the next email blast prompting you to claim events. The call for October events will go out shortly!

Open Hours this month
As usual, we’re open every day except Mondays. Bring your lunch, laptop, project, friends, date, a birthday cake, whatever and get creative, read, play games, or just get some work done! Did you know you can reserve a table for up to 8 people? Make a reservation or walk-in.

• Tuesdays & Wednesdays: 10am-6pm

• Thursdays: 10am-10pm

• Fridays: 10am-11pm (movies starting 8:30pm)

• Saturdays: 12-11pm (optional games starting 7pm)

• Sundays: 12-9pm

Private events that affect our Open Hours this month:

• Thurs, October 3

  • 8:45am-12pm closed for a private booking

  • Open Hours will resume 12pm-10pm

Ceramics left behind… BTW, if you haven’t picked up your ceramics (there are a lot of you!), we now have a 30 day deadline from the time you receive your pickup email. If you know your piece is waiting for you, please come by to pick it up soon or it will be put in our donation box!!
